MALAYSIA’S first over-the-top (OTT) platform MyPentas is collaborating with local artists and brands for its “Monetise with MyPentas 2022” campaign.

MyPentas aims to generate revenue for Malaysian artists by monetising their videos on its platform.

The campaign also serves as a call for brands, government-linked companies (GLCs), and government agencies to boost Malaysia’s culture economy and reach over one million viewers through partnership with MyPentas.

Additionally, MyPentas’ business model offers packages like pay-per-view, free-to-view and subscription packages. Through this platform, artists will be paid with an almost 70% generated income.

Twenty30 Digital Sdn Bhd chief digital officer Muralee Pillay said it had always been the company’s intention to help the arts entertainment industry.

“Our platform was created exclusively with the mission of helping local artists since the pandemic hit and to-date, we have made pay outs to some of the artists on our platform,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The “Monetise with MyPentas 2022” campaign is a partnership plan for the local music, comedy, dance and theatre community and entertainment ecosystem players at Bangsar Trade Centre.

Previously, MyPentas scouted Maya Hanum, an art pop and jazz singer and a group called Berdosa.

“To have a platform dedicated solely to help artists like me is such a blessing.

“I am happy with the incentive received and I am very excited to collaborate with MyPentas for their 2022 contents,” said Maya.

Meanwhile, Berdosa said it was a delight to receive revenues from their videos on MyPentas.

“This platform enables us to reach out to different groups of audiences all over Malaysia, something we have struggled with in the past.

“Now, everything is digitised and at one’s fingertips,” the group said.

Muralee expressed pride with MyPentas’ achievement in being the first fully OTT start-up in the region.

“Our next aim is to get 300 videos by the end of March 2022 and we are working hard to achieve it.

“2022 is the time for brands, GLCs and government agencies to support MyPentas and grow this first-of-its-kind Arts Entertainment platform to create and showcase the best of Malaysia and reach our over 1 million viewers per month,” he added.

MyPentas has previously featured 100 videos in 10 months on its platform from local artists like Altimet, Kyoto Protocol, Daiyan Trisha, Talitha Tan, Kavin Jay, Bil Musa, Pitapet Theatre and many more.
